TV Film Of The Week – 10th March

Welcome to the TV Film of the Week – the name says it all! Once again I’m a day late, but it’s still good! It’s a short one this week, so here’s our choice of the best films on TV in the next 7 days!

Let’s get straight to it and run down this week’s recommendations!

NB since we are all still ushers at heart, our weeks will start on a Friday.

So, our TV Film of the Week is:

(BBFC Rating 15, Lenny Abrahamson, 2015)

Film 4
Saturday 11th March, 21:00

Brie Larson is currently starring in Kong: Skull Island, but this is a career best, breakthrough role, with Jacob Tremblay as her son. Director Lenny Arbrahamson, who also made Frank, tells the story of a mother who creates an entire world for her son in the single room that they live in.

An alternative choice, our other TV Film of the Week is….

Last Action Hero
(BBFC Rating 15, John McTiernan, 1993)

Sony Movie Channel
Saturday 11th March 13:30
Wednesday 15th March, 18:20

A personal favourite of mine, over the top and indulgent as it is. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the movie star who is brought into the real world by a young fan with a magic ticket.

For your consideration

And since I’m here, these are my thoughts on the best of the rest:

The Crazies (BBFC Rating 15, Breck Eisner, 2010) – Timothy Olyphant stars as a small town Sheriff who sees the odd behaviour of the townspeople in this remake of one of George A Romero’s lesser know films. A cracking finale as well. Film4, Sunday 12th March, 00:30

I promise it will be on-time and better next week… again! See you next week when The Snooty Ushers choose their TV Film Of The Week!

Until next time, stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold. See you soonish.

that's all folks

About Snooty Usher James

Favourite Film: This Is Spinal Tap (1984) Least Favourite Film: Probably the American version of One Missed Call (2008) Guilty Pleasure: No Holds Barred (1989) I'm the exile of the group, after living in the South for a couple of years I've now moved to Edinburgh to start the next chapter. I've got a wide ranging love of film and TV, but I am definitely the fourth usher in terms of film knowledge. I do however have a stack of DVDs to work through, and both a Netflix and an Amazon Prime subscription with which to get involved. So, even if my job means I don't get to see as many of the new releases as I would like, I hope to be able to chip in with some reviews of my own. My other hobbies include playing the guitar, trying to play the ukulele, Football Manager and Radio 4. I'm also a big fan of wrestling. Part of that means that I have a bunch of ideas for columns that I have stolen from various parts of IWC, so look out for them. But hey, enough of my yacking. What do you say.....let's boogie.
